Biography

Hye Won (Rachel) Han (she/her) is a PhD student in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), focusing on inclusive visual literacy and Knowledge Building pedagogy. Her research examines how sighted and non-sighted learners engage with visual information and how inclusive multimodal designs can deepen understanding across STEM and social science learning.
Using a design-based and participatory approach, Hye Won collaborates with visually impaired co-designers and diverse learning communities to explore AI-supported multimodal tools that foster equitable Knowledge Building. Her work aims to advance transliteracy, accessible multimodal expression, and inclusive educational practices across varied contexts.
