Biography
Mingyi (she/her) has worked in the Language and Race in Contemporary Canadian History (LARCH) Project throughout her doctoral journey, where she examines how language policies have shaped public education in Ontario through oral history interview and archival research. Her doctoral dissertation builds on this work by focusing on Chinese Canadian community. Mingyi's scholarship builds on long-standing interests in anti-Asian racism, including previous work on Chinese Canadian history in WWII for the Asia Pacific Peace Museum. She has also collaborated with the York Region District School Board on initiatives to address anti-Asian racism during the COVID-19 pandemic.
