Biography
Nicole is a second-year EdD student, and OCT certified educator, examining how the developmental and cognitive foundations of counterfactual reasoning, specifically regarding wellness behaviours, can transition from being inherently reflective to maladaptive. While moderate counterfactual engagement can promote insight and resilience throughout the lifespan, Nicole's research aims to explore the possibility of how such excessive or negatively affective counterfactuals may contribute to rumination or feelings of self-blame within at-risk children and adolescents. Her work draws upon frameworks from developmental psychology and educational equity to inform differentiated pedagogy and responsive educational praxis.
