Yvonne Sandy Bienko
Biography
Dr. Yvonne Bienko completed her degree in 2025, examining workplace bullying among Ontario secondary school teachers and how such cases are resolved. Despite existing legislation, she sought to understand why the problem persists. Her qualitative study includes victims, accused individuals, union officials, administrators, and representatives from the Ontario College of Teachers. Using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model and Berger and Luckmann’s theory of the social construction of reality, the study identifies factors that both hinder and enable resolution. Her work focuses on supporting employers, employees, and unions through effective policies, procedures, and alternative dispute resolution systems that promote respectful, collaborative workplaces and address bullying and harassment claims.
