OISE Psychology Clinic Directors

Dr. Cynthia Maya Beristain

Director of Clinical Training of the (SCCP) School & Clinical Child Psychology Program (Child & Adolescent).

Dr. Maya Beristain is Mexican/Canadian and provides bilingual psychological services (Spanish/English) to children and youth. She has assessment and intervention expertise in neurodevelopmental differences (LD, ADHD, ASD, Intellectual Disability), mood/anxiety, complex mental health, and trauma. Dr. Maya Beristain approaches all her professional work from an inclusive stance.

Dr. Maya Beristain is an assistant professor in the School and Clinical Child Psychology program. She received her master's degree in School Psychology from the University of Southern Maine and her doctorate degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto. Her professional experiences include working in public school boards in Massachusetts and Ontario since 2001, as well as in community mental health settings, including Surrey Place, Youthdale Treatment Centres, and the OISE Psychology Clinic. Dr. Maya Beristain teaches graduate courses and supervises doctoral students in the SCCP and EdD (School Psychology) programs at OISE, as well as graduate students and supervised practice candidates in private practice and school boards.

Dr. Natalie Vilhena-Churchill

Director of Clinical Training of the (CCP) Counselling & Clinical Psychology Program (Adult).

Dr. Natalie Vilhena-Churchill is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream at OISE. She is both the Director of Clinical Training for the Counselling & Clinical Psychology Program in the Department of Applied Psychology & Human Development as well as the Clinic Director for Adult Services at our in-house Psychology Clinic. She completed her PhD in Counselling & Clinical Psychology at OISE and subsequently worked at various hospital sites in the GTA with many diverse populations and mental health concerns. Dr. Vilhena-Churchill has been involved in student training, consultation, and clinical supervision throughout her career.

Natalie VIihena
