Biography

Han Lai is a PhD student in the Developmental Psychology and Education program at OISE. Her research focuses on psychometrics, oral language assessment in young children, rater studies and the effects of bilingualism on language development. Han actively contributes to the BalanceAI project, where she develops oral language tasks and adapts AI tools for assessment purposes. She is currently working on the impact of rater’s backgrounds on evaluating children's oral language proficiency and is interested in mixed-methods research. Han has presented her work on the benefits of bilingualism for children's oral language skills at the annual American Association of Applied Linguistics conference and has co-authored in other projects and publications.
