Towards Youth: A Play on Radical Hope
Towards Youth is a verbatim theatre play that transports youth voices from interviews and ethnographic observations to theatre.
Along with traditional scholarly outcomes (publications), the play is a project output that transports youth voices from interviews to theatre. The play allows all of us to engage with the humanity and experiences of the young people we learned from.
Andrew Kushnir is the playwright who participated in our research activities at each site. Andrew used real stories, interactions, and direct quotes from research participants to write the play.
Every story told, every word spoken in the play was said verbatim during the research. These are real youth voices. Youth voices are not heard enough, which makes a Verbatim play built from their voices so important.
