Mission & Guiding Principles

In the CAMINA network, we’re driven by a shared mission—to connect key actors and evidence in ways that shape decisions and improve the lives of migrant and refugee students across Latin America.

To ensure our work is both rigorous and inclusive, we are guided by five principles for research and evidence dissemination:

Recognizing Migration as a Contribution

We understand that migration is not a burden but an opportunity for systemic improvement; solutions developed for refugee and migrant students often benefit the entire educational community.

Being Critical and Constructive

We document exclusion and social injustice with rigor, but we go further: we generate applicable knowledge and analyse promising interventions that inspire social innovation.

Adopting Participatory Approaches

Migrants are not just research subjects, but allies in the production of knowledge; our collaborative methodologies ensure that migrant voices influence the proposed solutions.

Building Bridges Between Actors

We connect school‑level experiences with public policy design, so decisions reflect local realities and advance more inclusive practices.

Promoting Comparative Research

We foster learning across diverse contexts to better address shared challenges, such as wellbeing, belonging, learning, and governance, while honouring the unique identity of each community and territory.
