This chapter provides a quantitative contextual framework for understanding the relationship between migration and secondary schooling in Argentina, with a specific focus on the City of Buenos Aires. Drawing on national census data (INDEC 2022), the National Migrant Survey of Argentina (ENMA), and the Technical Report on the Right to Education (Diez & Novaro, 2023), the authors analyze the distribution of migrant populations, their educational participation, and patterns of school attendance. The chapter highlights the central role of public secondary schools as key sites of migrant incorporation and socialization, while also documenting structural inequalities in access, persistence, and educational trajectories. By systematically presenting demographic and educational indicators, the chapter grounds the book’s empirical analyses and justifies the methodological choice to focus on public secondary schools in highly migrant-dense urban areas.
