The Centre for Learning, Social Economy & Work (CLSEW) convenes and supports research, events, knowledge mobilization, and organizing activities concerning all forms of work and learning in social economy and the public and private sectors. Committed to social and economic justice, CLSEW brings together scholars, students, community organizers, organizations, and activists committed to understanding and enriching the often under-recognized contributions of socio-economic activity and work to the full range and variation of learning dynamics in Canadian society and internationally.

CLSEW is housed in the Adult Education & Community Development program in the Department of Leadership, Higher & Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto (OISE/UT). We are linked to the collaborative graduate specializations in Workplace Learning and Social Change and Community Development.

In 2014, CLSEW was founded at OISE/UT by merging two previous research centres: the Centre for the Study of Education & Work, and the Social Economy Centre.

Members of CLSEW have worked with and studied: Non-profit organizations, co-operatives, social enterprises, unions, public and private sector organizations, social movement organizations, and worker-and-community recuperated enterprises.
