Current Opportunities

The Multilingualism & Literacy Lab at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, is looking to hire proficient French and/or English speaking student research assistants to work on a research project seeking to understand the relationship between oral language and reading comprehension among children who receive school instruction in French, either as the first or second language. 

Position Description:
  • Research assistants will administer a battery of language and reading measures in French to school age children. Parallel English measures are also administered when children are learning French as a second language.
  • Research assistants will collect data among school age children in school boards in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • They will process data at the Multilingualism & Literacy Lab. 
  • Undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Strong proficiency French. Preference will be given to native French speakers.
  • Strong proficiency in English.
  • Basic research skills are preferred but not required (interacting with children, administering experimental and standardized measures, coding and entering data).
  • Availability to collect data in-person in schools around the GTA is a must.
  • Data collection including preparation will occur completely in-person.
  • Data entry will occur in a hybrid format.
