Ways to Contact Education Commons

Notice of Education Commons Service Interruption

From Tuesday, May 5 to Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Education Commons team will be attending both an OISE on‑site event, and TechKnowFile 2026. During this time:

  • The weekday Zoom Drop‑In will be unavailable
  • The on‑site Interactive Service Hub (3rd floor, near the elevators) will be closed

The Education Commons team will continue to monitor the OISE Online Service Hub queue for requests requiring immediate support. All other inquiries will be responded to on Friday, May 8, 2026, in the order they are received. Community members who need support during this time are encouraged to:

Protect Your UTORid from Phishing

As the Fall 2025 semester at OISE approaches, Education Commons has observed a rise in phishing emails targeting the OISE community. These messages often appear to come from university-affiliated sources, including compromised @utoronto.ca email addresses.

Adobe Acrobat 2020 is being discontinued, so what are your options at OISE?

Adobe has moved away from offering Acrobat Pro as a one-time cost per device. From now on, Adobe Acrobat Pro will only be available through an annual subscription model, similar to the Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions, which provide updates and application access throughout the paid license period.

Spotlight of the week: Outdated and Unpatched Devices Risk

Devices that are end of life, aka no longer supported by the manufacturer or service providers, no longer receive firmware updates and therefore are not suitable for current times where vulnerabilities can be exploited without necessary security updates.
