The following dates are sorted chronologically. Deadlines are effective by the End-of-Business-Day, unless otherwise noted.

The 2025-26 Fall-Winter schedule/ timetable is posted by 5 PM. 

Before you enroll in courses, check the schedule/ timetable for enrolment restrictions additional to those that appear on ACORN.

Master of Teaching program courses will be pre-loaded based on cohorts and programs. Year 2 Master of Teaching students only will be selecting their final elective course in the Fall term (September to December)

Tuesday July 8, 2025

Course selection/enrolment for 2025 Fall and 2026 Winter courses begins at 6:00am via ACORN.

The first cycle of course enrolment for Fall and full year courses is July 8 to July 22.  There is no enrolment on July 23.  On July 24, enrolment will reopen and unused spaces in some courses are opened to other student categories as noted in course comments on the Course Schedule.

Monday July 14, 2025

Registration for 2025 Fall and 2026 Winter session begins. 

To be registered, students must pay at least the Minimum Payment to Register Amount displayed on their current session ACORN invoice or have an approved request to register without payment (fee deferral) in place before the SGS registration deadline. A student's status will change from "Invited" to "Registered" on ACORN when registration is complete. 

Students who are recipients of a Graduate Funding Package and successfully register without payment (defer fees) should arrange to make payments throughout the academic year as they receive funding from their scholarship, award, or other sources. Full payment of Fall and Winter session tuition and residence fees is due by April 30 at the latest. Other students who successfully register without payment (e.g., defer fees with an OSAP loan, another provincial loan, or US loan) must make their payment(s) by their deferral type deadline. After the deadline based on a student's deferral type, monthly service charges on unpaid fees will be billed on their ACORN invoice on the 15th of every month until paid in full. Visit the Student Accounts website and select a tuition deferral type to view payment and service charge billing deadlines. Students registered in the Fall and Winter sessions are not normally charged Summer fees. For students starting in the Summer, fees will appear in their ACORN invoice accordingly.

Tuesday July 15, 2025 Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a non-degree student for the 2025 Fall session.
Wednesday July 23, 2025

There is no course enrolment for all courses on July 23 and October 8. You can add a course to your enrolment cart, but you won't be able to take any other action on these dates. You cannot enroll, drop, modify, or join the waitlist until 12 am ET on the next day.

Thursday July 24, 2025

Course enrolment reopens for 2025 Fall, 2026 Winter, and full-year courses.

Wednesday July 30, 2025 Master of Teaching and MA-Child Study and Education programs deadline to request a deferral of admission from the 2025 Fall session to the 2026 Fall session. For all other programs, the deadline is September 12.
Friday August 22, 2025

Recommended date for tuition fee payment for students registering or starting their program in the Fall session. Payment by this date ensures that it is received by the registration deadline of September 12, and avoids cancellation of registration and course enrolment. International students must make a payment by this date to ensure they are covered by the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) at the beginning of September. (three weeks before the registration deadline).

Deadline for receipt of Individual Reading and Research Course approval forms for Fall session and full-year courses. Submit fully completed and authorized forms to the Registrar's Office and Student Experience, Registration Team. OISE graduate programs restrict the maximum number of IRR courses that a student can take; see the IRR form for details.

Sunday August 31, 2025 Deadline for new students to satisfy all conditions of admission, otherwise course enrolment and registration may be cancelled and offer of admission withdrawn.
Monday September 1, 2025 Labour Day (University closed).

Grade uploaded to eMark for summer session courses (May to August and July to August courses). Deadline for previous session courses which have an approved SDF must be amended with the final grade earned on eMark.

Friday September 5, 2025 Grades approved by Department Chairs for May to August and July to August courses. Instructors must submit grades in eMarks by September 3 to ensure approval by this date. Deadline for SDF designation for 2025 Winter session courses to be changed to a regular grade or a failing grade.
Monday September 8, 2025

Classes begin for Fall session and full-year courses. 

For most OISE programs, classes end November 29, 2025.

Wednesday September 10, 2025 Grades for May-to-August and July/ August courses become available for viewing by students on ACORN.

Required for students graduating at Fall convocation: 

  1. Final grades for all courses on ACORN; all course extensions (SDF) must be resolved.
  2. Departmental MRP completion forms for students in a program with an MRP requirement.
  3. Signed Departmental Degree Recommendation forms for master's students completing a thesis. By September 26 (indicated below), Student must forward the email from ETC/ProQuest to ROSE, confirming that the final master's thesis has been uploaded.
  4. Receipt of notification for addition of completed emphasis/field of study to appropriate student records.
  5. Confirmation of completed collaborative specializations from the collaborative specialization office. Students are expected to notify their collaborative specialization administrator that they will be graduating.
  6. For doctoral candidates, the final thesis must be uploaded by September 12 to avoid fee charges for the 2025 Fall session. To graduate at Fall convocation, the thesis must be successfully uploaded by September 26.
Friday September 12, 2025 Final date to add full-year and Fall session courses via ACORN.
Friday September 12, 2025 Waitlists will be cancelled for full-year and Fall session courses.
Friday September 12, 2025 Deadline to request a deferral of admission from the 2025 Fall session to the 2026 Fall session. For the Master of Teaching and MA-Child Study and Education programs, the deadline was July 30.
Friday September 12, 2025 Final date to submit final doctoral thesis to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2025-26.
Friday September 12, 2025

Registration deadline for students registering or starting their program in the Fall (September to December) session; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed. Minimum required payment due (unpaid fees from previous session[s] + 100% of current Fall tuition fee charges). A student's status on ACORN will change from "Invited" to "Registered" when registration is complete.

Intent to Graduate: Master's students who expect to complete all degree requirements in the current Fall session must submit the OISE Intent to Graduate form between September 15 and October 15. Students completing their degree in the Fall may choose to graduate in absentia in March or attend the June Convocation.

Wednesday September 17, 2025

Final date to add full year and Fall session courses. From September 18 to September 22, instructor signed and fully approved course add forms are required.

Deadline to change program status for the fall session. Many OISE programs offer both full-time and part-time study options. Students may request a status change however, certain restrictions apply. Each status has a maximum course load. If you have dropped a course(s) and now meet the criteria for part-time status, students must email us by the deadline to request a status change.

Friday September 26, 2025 Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a non-degree student for the 2026 Winter session.
Friday September 26, 2025 Deadline to submit final doctoral thesis for the Fall Convocation.
Friday September 26, 2025 For master's students intending to graduate in the Fall Convocation: To avoid being charged fees for the Fall session, the final date to confirm thesis upload by email. All degree requirements, including submission of approved thesis to ProQuest (if required), must also be completed by this date.
Tuesday September 30, 2025 Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Fall (September to December) session tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall session only, except for those who have successfully registered without payment because they are receiving a full funding package via a research stipend, a major award or scholarship, teaching assistantships, tuition waiver, and/or sponsorships. Intent to Graduate: The Last date to submit the Intent to Graduate form for Fall finishers i.e., students who completed their program requirements by the end of the Fall session (December). Submissions triggers the graduation review process.

Final date to drop Fall session courses without academic penalty. 

Note: Dropping courses is not the same as cancelling your registration in a session. The refund schedule dates for cancelling your registration in a session will be posted on:https://www.registrar.utoronto.ca/fees-payments/refund-schedules/

Thursday October 30, 2025 Fall convocation information and dates will be posted on the Convocation website.
Monday November 3, 2025 Deadline to submit a complete application for admission to degree programs beginning in the 2026 Fall session. Some programs will be open for application after this date. See Application Deadlines & Closing Dates for details.
Saturday November 29, 2025 Last day of Fall session classes - (except for the Master of Teaching program).
Sunday November 30, 2025 Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Winter (January to April) session tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall and Winter sessions, except for those who have successfully registered without payment because they are receiving Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or other government loans, a full funding package via a research stipend, a major award or scholarship, teaching assistantships, tuition waiver, and/or sponsorships. Monthly service charges will begin accruing on December 15.

Friday December 19, 2025 Recommended tuition fee payment deadline for all tuition fees billed for the 2025 tax year (Winter 2025, Summer 2025, and Fall 2025) for students who want eligible 2025 tuition fee payments to be reported on the 2025 calendar T2202 tax certificate, available for students to view and print on ACORN on February 21, 2026.
Friday December 19, 2025 Recommended tuition fee payment deadline for international students registering or starting their program in the Winter session (i.e., those who were not registered in the previous Fall session) to ensure they are covered by UHIP at the beginning of January.
Wednesday December 24, 2025 December Holiday Break (including Presidential Day). University closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 to Friday, January 2, 2026 inclusive.

2026 Winter session classes begin. The Winter session at OISE consists of 12 weeks of classes plus one-week March Break. Classes end April 4, 2026. MT students please check with your department for class ending date.

Wednesday January 7, 2026 Deadline for instructors to submit grades in eMarks for 2025 Fall session courses and 2025 Summer session course extensions (SDF designations to a regular grade or a failing grade).
Friday January 9, 2026 Deadline for instructors to submit grades in eMarks for 2025 Fall session courses and 2025 Summer session coursework extensions (SDF designations). Deadline for SDF designation for 2025 Summer session courses to be changed to a regular grade or a failing grade.
Friday January 9, 2026 Final date to add Winter session courses via ACORN.
Friday January 9, 2026 Waitlists will be cancelled for Winter session courses.

Intent to Graduate: OISE master's students expecting to finish all degree requirements in the current Winter term should submit the OISE Intent to Graduate form between February 15 and March 15. *Special instruction for MT and MACSE may apply. Students who complete in the winter session will graduate at June Convocation.

Monday March 16, 2026 Midwinter (March) Break in the Ontario school system (March 16-20). No OISE classes scheduled. Because many OISE students are teachers in Ontario Schools, our break is scheduled to coincide with March Break in the schools, rather than the traditional February break (reading week).
Wednesday March 18, 2026 Course selection/enrolment begins at 6:00am via ACORN for May-August, May/June and July/August courses.
Wednesday April 1, 2026 Deadline to submit a complete application for admission as a non-degree student for the 2026 Summer session, first term - May/June.
Friday April 3, 2026 Good Friday (University closed).
Saturday April 4, 2026

Last day of 2026 Winter session and full-year lectures (except for Master of Teaching program courses).

Wednesday April 8, 2026 For students obtaining degrees at June Convocation, coursework must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and Winter session courses. Instructors must upload grades to eMarks and 'Save as Draft' by this date. This includes all Year 2 MT and MA-CSE students.

Master's degree students in a research program who are graduating in June: 

  1. Degree recommendations must be submitted to ROSE by departments (fully signed and approved). Be sure to plan ahead for signing time.
  2. MRP/ Thesis must be uploaded, and proof of thesis upload email from the ProQuest ETD Administrator must be forwarded to the Registration team in ROSE. 

NOTE: Many thesis uploads require formatting and corrections to be finalized. Be sure to leave plenty of time for editing. Students with dual registrations in the Winter session must be recommended for the master's degree by this date to maintain their PhD registration.

Wednesday April 8, 2026 Doctoral students graduating in June: Final date to submit electronic final doctoral thesis.
