Join the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) on October 15th for an engaging evening with Dr. Trudy Sopp, an OISE alumna and author of The Public Sector Leader’s Playbook: Avoiding Missteps in an Unforgiving Arena.

OISE alumna Dr. Wraychel Gilmore will be in conversation with Dr. Racheal Kalaba (OISE 2025), hosted by Devonnia Miller, SJE DSA President. Together they will discuss Gilmore's new book Renegade Politics: Advocating for Youth Political Engagement (Dundurn Press), what real allyship with youth looks like, and how marginalised young people can be brought into policy-making.

How does AI visibly and invisibly control our emotions and our relations with self and others? This panel explores how AI shapes emotions, identities, belonging, care, and agency, and how educators can develop critical capacities with respect to the affective and relational dimensions of AI. 

Artificial intelligence is changing how we work, communicate and access information. What does that mean for how we teach and learn—today and throughout our lives? Join experts from OISE for a timely conversation about how AI and emerging technologies are reshaping education.

Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Dr. Devon Healey, Assistant Professor of Disability Studies at OISE, University of Toronto, will bring her interdisciplinary work in disability, performance and sensory experience to the stage this October with Newborn Giants, a new ballet developed in collaboration with choreographer Robert Binet.

The work will make its North American premiere from October 22–24, 2026, at the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto, as part of Fall for Dance North’s HEAR THE DANCE: Signature Programme 3.
