What led you to apply to APHD at OISE?
The SCCP program was the perfect program for me to reach my research and career goals. Particularly, I was drawn to the opportunity to work alongside my supervisors (Dr. Mark Wade and Dr. Brendan Andrade) and gain hands-on experience that would allow me to make a meaningful impact in both clinical practice and research.
What was your past experience like?
I’ve mostly worked in research settings as a research coordinator for projects revolving around postsecondary student mental health as well as youth mental health multimorbidity. I also love working with children and youth, so I’ve been a peer mentor and spent many summers as a camp counsellor.
What is one thing you like most about your experience so far at OISE?
What I appreciate most about my experience at OISE is the strong community among students. The diverse perspectives within cohorts have enriched my learning and this aspect of OISE continues to foster my personal and academic growth.
What is your favourite thing about Toronto?
My favorite thing about Toronto is that there is always something fun to do for everybody – whether it be museums, night life, festivals, etc. Summer in Toronto is always lively and something I look forward to!
What does your “weekend” typically look like?
My weekends typically involve a mix of staying active and socializing. I love doing pilates and yoga, so I frequent a couple different studios around the city. I also prioritize making time to be with friends, whether that’s grabbing bubble tea, going out for a meal, or just hanging out.
What are some of your hobbies & interests?
I’m really into traveling and exploring new places – I’ll be spending some time in Guatemala this summer! Running is also another hobby I enjoy, whether it's for staying fit or just to clear my mind.
What is your favourite type of cuisine?
Korean and Mexican – can’t pick between the two!
Where do you see yourself after you achieve your degree from APHD?
After getting my MA degree, I’ll be applying to the SCCP PhD program. I’m excited to continue my research and become a licensed clinical psychologist.
