In the folder holder my students keep a little reading chart. This chart tracks their daily reading; part of our reading workshop program encourages independent reading. To really help motivate my students a little more, we use this chart to track books that they're reading and their books they are reading with me and when they get to the end the whole class gets to celebrate. I also take the time to make little notes about if they are choosing books that are just right, too challenging or maybe even too easy. It's where I can make little assessment notes about their reading habits.
