New research and education partnership between OISE and the Université de l’Ontario français

The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), a faculty of the University of Toronto, and the Université de l’Ontario français (UOF) are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership in research and education. This collaboration aims to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, which share common goals in education, training, and immigration.

As part of this partnership, Professor Amal Madibbo, a tenured faculty member in the Department of Social Justice Education, will be granted partial release from her academic duties and appointed as a Researcher-in-Residence at the Observatory on Francophone Immigration to Canada (OIFC) for a duration of twelve months. In this capacity, she will also serve as the primary liaison between the two institutions, with the aim of fostering and strengthening institutional collaboration.

Nationally and internationally recognized, Professor Madibbo’s research focuses on key issues such as Francophone immigration, Black communities, decolonization, and migration dynamics. She is the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Contribution Award from the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA), in recognition of her significant impact on the fields of race, migration, transnationalism, and the sociology of Black Francophonie. Her landmark book, Blackness and la Francophonie, received an Honourable Mention for the CSA’s John Porter Excellence in Publication Award.

Annonce de partenariat entre l’OISE et l’Université de l’Ontario français

La faculté Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) de l’Université de Toronto, et l’Université de l’Ontario français (UOF) annoncent un partenariat stratégique visant à renforcer les liens entre les deux institutions qui partagent des objectifs communs en éducation, formation et recherche sur l’immigration.

Dans le cadre de ce partenariat, la professeure titulaire Amal Madibbo, du département de Social Justice Education, sera partiellement libérée de ses fonctions et sera accueillie à titre de chercheure en résidence à l’Observatoire sur l’immigration francophone au Canada (OIFC) pour une période de douze mois tout en servant de personne-contact entre les deux institutions afin de développer des liens entre les deux institutions.

Reconnue à l’échelle nationale et internationale, la professeure Madibbo s’intéresse à des enjeux majeurs tels que l’immigration francophone, les réalités des communautés noires, la décolonisation et les dynamiques migratoires. Elle est lauréate du Prix de la contribution exceptionnelle 2025 de la Société canadienne de sociologie (SCS), soulignant son apport remarquable aux domaines de la race, de la migration, du transnationalisme et de la sociologie de la francophonie noire. Son ouvrage marquant, Blackness and la Francophonie, a reçu une mention honorable pour le Prix John Porter de la SCS.

L’Université de l’Ontario français se réjouit de cette entente porteuse et anticipe qu’elle ouvrira la voie à de futures collaborations enrichissantes pour les milieux académiques, communautaires et gouvernementaux.
