Featured Initiatives
As we have heard from the community, the goal of this project is to re-imagine the existing unused outdoor terraces. The design will incorporate the latest standards of accessibility and sustainability as well as provide space to express Indigenous values. The west facing terrace will be a place for large gatherings, informal study, meeting and community gathering events. There will be patio areas with a variety of bench seating, table seating, shade features and gardens areas with a selection of plantings to create a green oasis accessible to the community. Adjacent to the roof garden terrace, the interior lounge in Room 5-220 will be a flexible space with areas for studying, relaxation and events. The lounge will feature chairs and casual table seating. Together, these two spaces will provide connection and openness for special events and daily use for the OISE community.
The OISE Wellness Committee is comprised of representatives from across the OISE. Our objective for this working group is focused on developing programs and resources to help us cultivate a culture of Readiness, Resilience, and Recovery as we adapt to our evolving learning and work arrangements.
The activities of this group include:
- engaging in meaningful discussions about the needs of each of our constituent groups as our learning and work arrangements evolve
- gathering data from our community through surveys, focus group discussions, interviews
- exploring current trends and strategies from other organizations
- learning from and working with experts, both internal and external to OISE, to develop a post-pandemic wellness strategy
- building a library of resources to help us cultivate a culture of Readiness, Resilience, and Recovery
